Rebekah and Ryan’s Wedding Story:

Where did you get engaged and how long had you been together before hand?

“Ryan and I got engaged on NYE 2006/7, at a party. We had been together 2 years then, 8 years when we married this oct. My husband and I had been engaged for 6 years before we married, we decided on having our daughter 1st and then saved HARD for the wedding of our dreams”

How many venues did you visit before you chose Parklands as your wedding venue?

“We had almost dedicated ourselves to a venue closer to home, but just never got that wow factor with it. My sister and her husband got married at your sister venue Fennes and I was showing a friend the website and i saw that you were all a part of a group so looked into Quendon a bit further. I thought it looked like somewhere football stars got married completely out of our range, but attended one of your open days and we where both blown away with the venue and the friendliness of the staff. When we discovered it was in our range if we married mid-week, well I’m afraid that after that nothing came anywhere near to Quendon. We would joke on the journey up there when we came up, that it was just to far but when we arrived, that just didn’t matter anymore and with your ample overnight accommodation it was just perfect. it was most definitely an immediate decision for both of us, that this was the place we had just never attended a wedding in anywhere so lovely.”

What was your first step of wedding planning? Venue search, dress shopping, choosing a date etc?

“Our first step to our nuptials was definitely our saving plan, we saved hard and my Husband held down 3 Jobs to enable us to have the wedding that we wanted and we wasn’t willing to settle for just anything. When budget was planned it was the venue next Quendon definitely fitted in perfectly for us. It started the great overall joy we felt the whole time when we had set the date with yourselves and made it that much easier to work hard and strive to get the wedding we dreamed of. We set the date for 16 months ahead, just so we could be sure to save extra for all the lovely bits on offer.”

What was the hardest thing about planning your wedding day?

“The hardest part of the whole thing was adhering to our green colour scheme we chose.
Who knew there where so many shades of green? It helped when we put it together with the metallic/silver theme we injected in towards the end, but matching dresses, sashes, chair sashes, shoes and cravats in green is not a job for the faint hearted!!”

What were the highlights of your day?

“My personal highlight of the day was waking up with all the girls I love most in the world with me and travelling up to Quendon and the period of time we had to get ready in the gorgeous suite you have on the third floor. As a couple having our photo’s done in the grounds and just all the general feedback we got all day about how perfect things where and how great we all looked.”

Now you have “been there done that” in hindsight is there any thing you would have done differently?

“On hindsight we would have chosen silver chair sashes as they where the only part of the colour scheme we where not 100% happy with.”

Do you have any advice for Bride and Grooms that are just starting their wedding plans?

“Advise-mmmm. definitely do not let yourselves get overwhelmed in the run up, enjoy every moment of it, and the day as before you know it, its gone and you know what- you don’t fluff your lines, you wont have a panic attack on the day and that is all down to the help and support you get from Parklands that makes it the best day of your lives.”
