A friend of mine was fortunate enough to be able to use a brand new Range Rover Sport in white and it worked exceptionally well. A work colleague even talked her department head to drive her to the wedding in his Aston Martin convertible. Arriving in the sunshine with the roof down, albeit holding onto her headdress was a great way to arrive at her wedding. That was an awesome entrance!
If you know someone with the right vehicle, borrowing is brilliant. It doesn’t have to be flash, it just needs to be the right kind of vehicle to provide the kind of entrance you’re looking for.

2.Taxi
Using a taxi to arrive at one’s wedding probably isn’t as romantic as it could be, but do it right and it really works. When we talk taxi here, we’re not talking about an overweight man turning up in his diesel Mondeo. We’re talking a white hackney cab or something specially prepared for the day.
Many cab companies have arrangements they can make whereby they dress up one of their cars for weddings. Some even have limousines they hire for the journey. Either way, you could turn up to your wedding in a hackney carriage or a Mercedes-Benz for much less than you would if you hired them as wedding cars.
The vehicle you choose depends entirely on the look you’re trying to create, how much cash you have and what’s available in your area. City cab firms obviously have more options than rural ones, but you don’t know until you try.
3.Book a Bus
You don’t have to be getting married in London or recreating scenes from Summer Holiday to look good in a bus. Booking a London omnibus is another way to make an entrance that won’t cost a fortune.
The advantage of booking a bus is that the entire wedding part can arrive at once, with only the groom having to find his own way there so he doesn’t see the dress. Not only can you arrive on time to your wedding, you’re also accompanied by family and friends. There are no car parking issues, no waiting for rellies who got lost and no sitting nervously waiting to arrive.
A bus isn’t going to appeal to all brides but for those it does, it makes real sense. There is enough space for everyone, it can act as a dressing room for last minute preparations and you can draw on the support of all your family and friends while you travel.
4.Bicycles
We’ll be the first to admit that trying to navigate city streets in a wedding dress while avoiding getting it caught in the oily bits of a bicycle isn’t everyone’s idea of fun. However, in the right circumstances, it’s a blast!
We attended a wedding in London’s Notting Hill in the summer where the bride and groom arrived on his and hers bicycles. It was a vintage-style wedding anyway with a make do and mend twist, so it fit right in context.
The bicycles were clean, festooned with flowers and the bride had a basket on the front where her bouquet sat front and centre. They could cut through city traffic and arrive oil free too. The bride wore a lovely Audrey Hepburn style summer dress that was kept well away from her ankles and she arrived looking just as good as when she left home.
5.Walk
Walking to your wedding is a tradition in many Mediterranean countries. If you’re planning a summer wedding and don’t live too far from the venue, it’s a viable option here too. Of course, if you’re getting married abroad, it’s the perfect time to indulge in this tradition.
Not only does it save you money, give you a little time to provide emotional support to each other before the ceremony, it also gives other people the opportunity to offer their congratulations.
